The first time we hear of Jesus in the wilderness, is when He is goes there after His baptism and fasts for 40 days. The season of Lent commemorates this. It was the time that Jesus prepared spiritually for His ministry on earth. After Jesus completed His fast and conquered the temptations that Satan put before Him, Luke 4 v14 says Jesus returned from the wilderness in the Power of the Spirit. Then the miracles started!
In our main verse for the month, Jesus went back to the wilderness. For context, Jesus had just performed two miracles. He had healed a leper and miraculously produced a boatload of fish for Simon Peter. Popularity followed, the crowds began to gather around Him and they followed Him, just waiting to see what else Jesus was going to do. Oh the pressure!…
