For Christians, Easter is central to their faith. In many respects it is a time of stark contrasts – of cruelty and forgiveness; of sorrow and joy; of death and life, and of despair. It is also a story of victory.
As Christians across the world rejoice on Easter Sunday in a celebration of the day Jesus Christ rose from the dead, they also contemplate the enormity and significance of the perhaps oddly named ‘Good Friday’. That day, Jesus, who had been betrayed and accused, was whipped, abused and executed.
