Brian and Tony both received an email today, entitled “RQF”, from what appeared to be Mark Bainbridge – the Chair of the Lawyers Christian Fellowship.
The email was requesting that we view a document that was in Dropbox that was entitled “Quotation from Lawyers Christian Fellowship”.
We both independently emailed Mark back, asking if it was genuine. We both received a reply assuring us that it was and that we should open it.
On trying to view the document it asked us to sign into a Microsoft account.
This appears to be an attempt to obtain Microsoft account credentials.
We have contacted Mark via phone and he confirmed that it was not genuine. He has notified his IT department and those in his address book.
Please check that you have two factor authentication set up on your Microsoft accounts. You can also see on your Microsoft account Dashboard what other devices have accessed your account. Remove any devices that you don’t recognise!
