Lancashire grasp the Conference Baton!

02 Jun 2023

Hello,

Myself and seven Lancashire Christian Police Association members have just returned from the National Christian Police Association Conference in Aberdeen hosted by CPA Scotland. The Conference was at King’s Church, a huge former conference centre and was an amazing venue. We got the opportunity to go to the Church service on the Sunday morning with over 1,000 worshippers from Aberdeen. The conference itself was uplifting and it was great to hear from CPA partners such as Teen Challenge (Paul Beaton) who spoke about the transforming impact that Christ can have on those with addictions and those who are struggling in life. We heard from Nigel Kenny from the Christian Institute who encouraged us to live out our Christian faith in the workplace knowing that the Christian Institute is there to support Christians who need representing. We also had Bible teaching from Craig Dyer, a pastor from King’s Church encouraging us to remember how we came to faith, on the first evening, and then how we can continue to live out our Christian faith, moving forwards, on the second night. Read a further report in this month’s On and Off Duty.

Mark Porter, Lancashire CPA member sums up why these conferences are so special when he posted on our CPA Whatsapp group: “I just wanted to say what a lovely weekend I’ve had at the CPA Conference in Aberdeen, I’ve had some great fellowship/laughs with my fellow CPA members, made some good networking contacts with CPA members from other Constabulary’s too and been inspired by the speakers and fellowship we experience at King’s Church, Aberdeen. If you have never been on one of these CPA conference weekends before, I can highly recommend it, BIG THANKYOU to Paul for arranging this CPA weekend for us all, and to Brian (McCarthy, CPA national Executive director) and King’s Church for making it a great Conference.”

The baton is now passed onto Lancashire as we now prepare for the National Conference in Preston, next year. So far we have the hotel booked and deposit paid for 14th to 16th June 2024. Over the coming months there will be plenty of work to be done planning the event. If you would like to assist in any way please let me know so that in June 2023 we can have a meeting to discuss what we need to do to make this privilege of hosting a National Conference in Lancashire become something truly inspiring. It will also be important that all the helpers have the weekend booked onto DMS so that the Lancashire CPA team are not diverted to cover other events.

Blessings,

Paul Pountain
CPA Branch Leader, Lancashire Police
